Services

Pre-booked appointments

Appointments are available every day, including Saturdays. You can call us or pop in to arrange an appointment with a doctor or nurse.

To access our on line services please call into the surgery and ask for your pin number and access ID from our reception team. Please note these will expire after a week.

You then need to go to our on-line services boxes below. Choose Access the appointment system and follow the registration instructions. Once registered you will be able to make appointments and request repeat prescriptions. If you have any problems please contact the practice and ask to speak to the reception team.

Text Message Reminders

We have just started a text message reminder service, which we hope you will find helpful and which will also cut down on people missing appointments (DNA's) as well as informing you of some of our health promotion services.

If we don't have your mobile number or you have changed it recently please let us know.

If you don't want to receive text messages please let us know so we can code your notes accordingly.

Telephone consultations

Many problems can be sorted out over the telephone without face-to-face contact with a doctor. Advice can be given and prescriptions issued, if appropriate. This saves valuable time for both you and your doctor. If you would like to speak to a doctor regarding a non-urgent issue, please request a telephone consultation. If an appointment is not available, requests for any urgent consultations will be passed onto the duty doctor. The doctor will call you back to discuss any problems you may have and offer advice. This may lead to a same-day consultation or a normal appointment as appropriate.

Out-of-hours service

If you require urgent medical advice from a doctor after the surgery has closed, please call 111. If you require urgent immediate medical attention please call 999 for an ambulance.

You can also get health advice by contacting NHS Direct on 111.

Emergencies and home visits

Please call us on 020 8596 7850.

Please make your request for a home visit before 10.30 am if possible. Most problems are best dealt with at the surgery if possible as all the necessary staff and equipment are based there. However we are always pleased to see our patients at home if they are too unwell to visit the surgery or housebound by chronic disease. Please do let the receptionist know what the problem may be in order to enable him or her to alert the doctor to the urgency of your call. A doctor may call you back to discuss where it is best to see you.

Antenatal and postnatal care

We offer a shared care community maternity service with the ante-natal unit at King George Hospital.

Family planning

Men and women are more than welcome to discuss contraception with the doctors. We provide a range of services including the contraceptive pill, coil fitting, injections and emergency contraception.

Termination of pregnancy

We can arrange for this at the Marie Stopes Centre. Please feel free to come and discuss an unplanned pregnancy.

Cervical smears

We will invite patients who are due for a cervical smear to a convenient appointment.

Child immunisations

These are being provided by the doctors. We call all our parents when their child is due to be immunised; alternatively you may always contact us with any queries you may have.

Travel immunisations

We provide an advice and immunisation service to meet your travel needs. Please check your requirements with us eight weeks before you travel if possible.

Sick notes and certificates

Certificates for periods of less than a week should be signed by patients themselves, usually on a self-certification form available from their employer. We will NOT provide a certificate for the first week of sickness absence.

Test results

Please note that the Customer Service Officers can only give results to patients once the doctor has checked the result and given authorisation. In order to maintain patient confidentiality, results can only be given to patients themselves, unless they are under the age of 16.

Repeat prescriptions

There are various options available to you with regard to repeat prescriptions. You can tick the appropriate medication on your computer-printed slip, hand it in or send it to the practice. Please allow two working days for us to prepare your prescription.

To avoid any errors we do not take any repeat prescriptions via the phone.

There is also a repeat dispensing scheme which is for those on regular medication. Your doctor can issue several prescriptions in advance to be held and distributed when you need them by your chosen pharmacy.

Non-NHS services

Certain services provided by your doctor are not covered by the NHS and you may be asked to pay a fee. These include:

  • a pre-employment medical examination
  • a private medical examination (for example for life insurance)
  • an examination for an insurance claim
  • a fitness-to-drive medical examination.

A list of fees is displayed in our reception area. Fees are payable to the receptionist and you will be given a receipt.
